Johann Sebastian Bach
J.S. Bach was a German composer and musician of the Baroque period. He suffered from cataracts and underwent surgery to correct them. The operation known as couching, pushed the cataracts back into the eye, rather than removing it. The surgery was performed twice. Soon thereafter Bach suffered a stroke, possibly as a result of the surgery, and died shortly after the second operation.
Ludwig van Beethoven
Beethoven was a German composer and pianist. He was the predominant musical figure between the Classical and Romantic eras. He is one of the most famous and influential composers. His hearing began to deteriorate at the age of 20 and continued to worsen throughout his life. His most important and well-known works were composed in his last 10 years when he was almost completely deaf.
Tomasso Masaccio
Masaccio was the first great Italian painter of the Quattrocento period of the Italian Renaissance. He was on of the first to use linear perspective and vanishing points in his paintings. The most celebrated Florentine sculptors and painters studied his frescoes to learn the rules of successful painting. Although the exact cause of his untimely death at the age of 26 is "unkown", many speculate that he was poisoned by a jealous painter
Henri Matisse
Matisse is widely regarded as the greatest colorist of the twentieth century. Originally he studied law and worked as a law clerk. He later contacted appendicitis and it was during his recovery that he developed a love of painting
Claude Monet
Monet was a famous French painter who helped create the art movement known as impressionism. Throughout his life he struggled with depression, poverty, and illness. In his later years he developed cataracts and spent his last 10 years almost blind. Some speculate he suffered from bipolar disorder. He died of liver damage most likely due to severe alcoholism.
Robert Schumann
Schumann was a German Composer who was widely considered as one of the greatest composers of the Romanic Era. He originally pursued a career as a concert pianist, but became paralyzed in his right hand. Due to his disability he devoted himself to composition.

Raphael was a leading figure of the Italian Renaissance Classicism, He is most well known for his paintings known as the "Madonnas". Although the exact cause of death is unknown, It is known that his death followed a long night of sex that lead to a severe fever. He was 37
